The Department of Korean Language and Literature strives to imbue students with the qualities and thinking skills that are required of those who study the humanities. Our top priority is providing education on the value of the Korean language and Korean literature, with efforts also devoted to encouraging students to more deeply explore the world of culture and the life and psyche of humankind.
Today, Korea’s international visibility is growing by the day, with creative capabilities emerging as a driving force of the culture industry. As a result, Korean language and literature is becoming an area of study that satisfies the demands of our times and also has high future value. Our goal is to enhance students’ understanding of the Korean language and literature, which forms the foundation of all academic disciplines and use it as the basis for cultivating individuals who have strong communication skills and creative capabilities that can be built upon with an understanding of issues in the global community.
One defining trait of Ajou University’s Department of Korean Language and Literature is the coexistence of diverse and balanced curricular content with instruction that fosters the practicality and applicability students need to apply what they have learned to their careers.
